Richard Matheson
Richard Matheson nasceu em Allendale, Nova Jersey, filho de pais imigrantes noruegueses. Foi criado em Brooklyn e começou a escrever aos oito anos. Ele se formou no Brooklyn Technical High School em 1943. Serviu como soldado de infantaria na Segunda Guerra Mundial. Ele obteve seu diploma de bacharel em jornalismo pela Universidade de Missouri em 1949. Seu primeiro conto, "Born of Man and Woman", apareceu na revista de ficção científica e fantasia em 1950. Entre 1950 e 1971, escreveu dezenas de histórias, frequentemente misturando elementos de ficção científica, terror e fantasia. Em 1951 mudou-se para a Califórnia e tornou-se roteirista, escrevendo episódios para The Twilight Zone, Lawman e Star Trek, e roteiros para filmes de terror como The Devil Rides Out e Steven Spielberg's Duel. Durante a década de 1950 ele publicou um punhado de histórias ocidentais. Seu romance de guerra autobiográfico The Beardless Warriors foi publicado em 1960.
